Star Wars? 1977 Don Post Studios Masks? Top-notch Store Display Movie Poster

MUST HAVE STAR WARS! AN ADVERTISING ONLY Star Wars Store Display Movie Poster promoting the sale of the now legendary Don Post Studios Star Wars masks made back in 1977! This is one of the earliest and most important posters on Star Wars, not to mention one of the rarest! It was very hard to get licensees on board with Star Wars prior to the film’s release. Don Post Studios Masks were one of the happy exceptions. They were with the franchise from the beginning, and so was this poster – printed early on to advertise the launch of the masks. Needless to say, Star Wars broke in 1977 to be a breakout hit, and the rest is history, including this poster, which was never printed again. They didn’t need to, as hunger for Star Wars product was self feeding. They couldn’t keep the masks on the shelf long enough for the paint to dry. Subsequently, Post made a small fortune on his wise decision to sign on early. In all of the 40 years I’ve been collecting, I’ve only seen six (6) of these posters. That’s rare by anyone’s measure. Any way you cut it, this one is a MUST if you’re into rare and important Star Wars! This poster was printed back in 1977 when Star Wars was first released! Again, this poster is simply as rare as any Star Wars poster gets. Heck, it’s pretty much as rare as. Poster gets – period! There are one hundred year old Toulouse-Lautrec posters that are not as rare as this poster. That’s a fact. There really are just a few people who have this early Star Wars poster. This poster was issued 25 by 18 and 1/4 inches. The poster was also designed and printed WITHOUT a white border. They call that a full “Bleed” in the advertising industry. It worked like a charm because the poster came out perfectly! I used the best conservator in the USA. He ONLY uses high-grade materials, such as thicker linen and thicker acid-free Japanese rice paper. The better materials cost more but make a real difference in the end result. It’s flat as a pancake and as clean as can be. Is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country. A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer linen-mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier. ESPECIALLY on borderless posters. As I pointed out, this poster was made with a RED border only. The white you see in the photos is the white of the Japanese paper lining the linen border margin. You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle – it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original. Also, all of my linen-backed posters have been stored FLAT so they DO NOT have a curl to them – They’re ready for framing and display! Original Music Mark Hamill…. Luke Skywalker Harrison Ford…. Han Solo Carrie Fisher…. Princess Leia Organa Peter Cushing…. Grand Moff Tarkin Alec Guinness…. Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Anthony Daniels…. Darth Vader James Earl Jones…. It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock – Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won’t inspire anyone! The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. This poster is definitely. Please write with any questions. Here A BONA FIDE ORIGINAL 1978 Star Wars Style “D” one sheet Color-Bar Printer’s Test Proof: This style “D” Star Wars one-sheet is one of the most famous movie posters ever designed. Star Wars originally opened in May of 1977 on just 32 theater screens worldwide. It played continually for more than a year straight to record-breaking crowds in extremely limited release. After that extended “roadshow play, ” Fox decided to go wide with Star Wars in the summer of 1978, expanding the number of theaters by the hundreds. The ongoing poster campaign was renewed by issuing this amazing style “D” artwork. There was finally time to execute the poster George Lucas had originally envisioned but couldn’t deliver by the films rushed 1977 opening. Two artists, Charles White III and Drew Struzan, were commissioned. This style D artwork was the result. THIS RARE PRINTER’S TEST PROOF WAS THE FIRST OF THEM EVER PRINTED! IT’S MINT/NearMINT ROLLED NEVER FOLDED CONDITION! This is a genuine original! Rolled original Style “D” one-sheets are pretty tough to get on their own, but a test proof is unheard of. NO QUESTION, this is the last stop for the style “D, ” as it gets no better than this! Check out the High-Res scans. ALSO – Notice the yellow printer’s cut line on photo #4. This is a telltale sign that this was an “intended” proof vs. An “intended” proof is where they specifically were making a proof to determine press reediness or to get final approval from the client. An unintended proof is where something goes wrong during the run and the press is stopped and then uncut posters become a side result. This was actually made to be a proof. I got it from the pressman directly! This poster is UNCUT and measures 28 and 3/4 by 41 inches. A regular issued cut style “D” one-sheet is 27×41 inches. WITH the extra protective linen margin this piece in its totality measures 30 and 1/2 by 42 and 1/2 inches.
