Original Star Wars Return of the Jedi Printers Proof (1983) One Sheet

Original Star Wars Return of the Jedi Printers Proof (1983) One Sheet

This is an original, vintage theatrical unfolded Style B one-sheet Return of the Jedi movie poster printer’s proof (28″ x 41″). Original Star Wars posters are rare, but even more so are the printer’s proofs. It was standard practice that before a poster was printed in large quantities a small number of printer’s proofs would be printed and shown to authoritative figures in the studio, art departments and even the stars. It was common on printer’s proofs to leave the colour chart uncut and afterwards these proofs were often destroyed, making them extremely rare and valuable. Original Return of the Jedi Style-B one-sheet. Printer’s proof movie poster measures 28″ x 41″. The poster exhibits a few light creases scattered in various areas, but they are not very noticeable or distracting. One small crease is slightly more visible to the right of Fisher’s right ear. Other than very minor edge wear with very few if any edge creases, the poster is in very nice condition. Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity. All of our artifacts are thoroughly and extensively researched before being listed for sale, so much so that we’re proud to offer a lifetime guarantee of authenticity for this and other artifacts listed throughout our website. We also hold a record of every piece we sell which can be identified and searched in our online database using the serial number listed on your certificate of authenticity. According to starwarsmovieposter dot com there were only about 200 printed and most were never distributed. THIS IS A PRINTER’S PROOF! This is given 9 out of 10 stars for scarcity and value appreciation in the official 2005 Star Wars Poster Book published by Lucasfilm. Comes with a CineMasterpieces Certificate of Authenticity. Approximate 3/4 white linen border. This poster comes straight from a former employee who used to work at Gore Graphics in the 1970′s. Gore was the company that originally printed these for the studio and National Screen Service (NSS) back in 1977. About Printer’s Proofs : Before a poster was printed in large quantities the printer would print a limited number of test posters. They would leave the color chart on the edge of the poster which added an extra inch to the width of the poster (which explains why this poster measures 28″ x 41″). These would then be shown to people in a position to “OK” them. Once they were approved, the final posters would be printed and the proofs normally were destroyed. A printer’s proof is far more rare than a regular one sheet poster and there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction. Rolled – Never Folded. This poster is NOT FRAMED. These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. Poster is a poster that is archivally mounted to acid free paper and canvas where it can be restored if needed. Fold lines and other defects become less noticeable, sometimes even invisible. Linen Backing can dramatically improve the overall appearance of a poster and it can substantially increase its value. It is the preferred archival method for conserving and/or restoring a poster. This poster is considered to be within that class and is definitely INVESTMENT QUALITY. This is NOT a reprint or reproduction poster! We are absolutely certain it is authentic. Please be advised that over 95% of all Original Movie Posters. Printed before the mid 1980′s were issued FOLDED. This is NOT considered a defect. Vintage rolled posters do exist, however they are extremely rare. We can have any folded poster. Which will make the fold lines virtually disappear. Also please note that most movie posters were actually used at the theater, and some will contain slight imperfections such as: writing on the back, pin holes, fold wear, small tears, etc. These are all very common and to be expected, but if they bother you, all these minor flaws can be remedied in the linen backing process. Linen Backing preserves and can actually increase the value of a poster. For the most part, any flaws will be fixed and the poster will appear to be in Near Mint condition. For more information about our. We do not always measure all of our posters exactly. Unless otherwise specified, poster measurements quoted above are approximate to the nearest inch. For example, if we say a one sheet poster is 27″ x 41″ its precise measurements may be closer to 26 3/4″ x 40 7/8″ (or something similar). This slight variance is quite common for all original movie posters. BEWARE OF “FAKE” MOVIE POSTERS! There are fakes, bootlegs, reprints, and reproductions of almost every popular movie poster. WE DO NOT SELL THESE AS ORIGINALS LIKE OTHERS DO! There are many unscrupulous dealers who successfully pass off these posters as originals. They have been doing it for years! These fakes are almost indistinguishable from originals, only experts can tell. They only discover years later when they sell them that they are worthless. Most are from popular movies from the 70′s and 80′s, but there are also really old ones and relatively new ones as well. They usually appear in insert size 14″ x 36″ and one sheet size 27″ x 41″. Again, all we can say is BEWARE! We grade our posters according to the Iguide Universal 10-Point Movie Poster Grading Scale. Almost all of our inventory is graded at least C8 Excellent or better. C10 Mint – Investment quality. No perceptible flaws of any kind. C9 Near Mint – Investment quality. Minor flaw on an otherwise unused poster. C8 Excellent – Investment quality. A few minor defects. Pin holes, small tears, etc. C7 Very Good to Excellent – Fine. Still a very nicely preserved item. C6 Very Good – The typical used poster in average condition. C5 Good to Very Good – A heavily-worn item. C4 Good – Below average but still suitable for display. C3 Fair – Heavily worn, but yet still complete. C2 Poor to Fair – An extremely worn, possibly even incomplete item. C1 Poor – The lowest grade, representing items in the lowest possible condition. Some of our posters are “between grades”. For example, a C8-C9 poster will contain all the qualities/characteristics of a Near Mint C9 except for one or two very minor flaws that we believe prevent it from being a true C9. Sometimes it isn’t possible to do this. Sometimes we can’t roll a folded poster. Please note that if we hold your items for longer than 30 days they will NOT BE RETURNABLE. WE TAKE EXTRA SPECIAL CARE WHEN WE PACKAGE YOUR ITEMS. Folded posters are placed in a plastic bag or envelope and in between STRONG pieces of cardboard and taped together before being placed in the package. Rolled posters are put into a plastic sleeve and then placed in a HEAVY-DUTY TOUGH 3″ or 4″ diameter thick walled PVC tube. We roll the poster into a smaller diameter than the tube. This is VERY IMPORTANT because it gives the edges strength and helps to prevent them from getting wrinkled. We add soft cushioning material also very important! On the ends to prevent them from getting damaged. We stamp “FRAGILE: DO NOT BEND” on the outside of the package. EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ. To protect ourselves, we insure expensive items for the FULL AMOUNT. These combined charges can add up to 25% or more to your final cost. For other European countries the charges will differ. Please check with your postal system on their procedure for packages from overseas so you are not unpleasantly surprised. You must notify us before sending it back. This is extremely rare, but it does occasionally happen. We know how to create a listing that will provide you with the highest dollar possible. STAR WARS? CineMasterpieces NSS 77/21-0 CMYK PRINTER'S PROOF MOVIE POSTER 1977

ONE SHEET ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER. CMYK UNCUT PRINTER’S PROOF. STYLE A FIRST PRINTING WITH NSS # 77/21-0. LINEN BACKED READY FOR FRAMING. If it has any minor defects like pin holes, creases, etc. And they are not mentioned above, they should be visible in the high resolution photo. WE DO NOT SELL REPRODUCTIONS OF ANY KIND. NO FAKES, NO REPRINTS. Perfect for a high end home theater. Highly sought after by movie poster collectors and aficionados. From the CineMasterpieces archive. This is a genuine. One sheet ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER CMYK UNCUT Printer’s Proof. This is a vintage original poster from 1977. Linen Backed ready for framing. Straight from a former employee who used to work at Gore Graphics in the 1970′s. Gore Graphics was a printing company that printed original movie posters for National Screen Service in the 1970′s and 80′s. This version with NSS # 77/21-0 is the very first printing. The Style A one sheet was printed at least 5 times in 1977. There are known reprints and/or reproductions of this poster. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! This is guaranteed to be a genuine ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER issued by the studio when the film was first released and meant for theatrical display. We are absolutely certain it is authentic. Bootlegs have a “hair” on Luke’s belt area. This does not have the hair. This is the most bootlegged and reproduced poster on planet Earth! It is extremely difficult to find an authentic one. About half the ones sent to us for consignment have to be sent back because they are reproductions. This is the rarest of the rare! This is a PRINTER’S PROOF. Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of test posters. They would leave the color chart on the left edge of the poster, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster. These would then be shown to people in a position to “OK” them. Once they were approved, the final posters would be printed and the proofs normally were destroyed. A printer’s proof is far more rare than a regular one sheet poster and there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction. STAR WARS STYLE A 1SH FIRST PRINTING WITH NSS # 7 7/21-0 CMYK vs. PMS PRINTER’S PROOFS. First, a little background information. Gore Graphics was a printing company used by the movie studios and the National Screen Service (NSS) to print original movie posters from the 1970′s to the early 1990′s. Gore Graphics no longer exists. It was acquired by another company in the 1990′s. The Star Wars style A one sheet was officially printed at least 5 separate times at a few different authorized print shops around the USA during the first theatrical run of Star Wars in 1977. This is evidenced by the differences that can be seen on the bottom borders of the one sheets. It has been well established by other experts, dealers and collectors over the years that the one sheets with NSS number 77/21-0 were printed first before all others. In July 2013 we had an extensive conversation with Mark, a former employee of Gore Graphics in the 1970′s and 80′s. Like other former employees at Gore we have worked with over the years, Mark was allowed to take home posters from time to time. He has placed on consignment with us several Star Wars printer’s proof one sheets. While meeting with Mark we became aware of two different versions of the 77/21-0 proof. The PMS version and the CMYK version. Mark carefully explained that the PMS version was printed first and was disapproved. The CMYK version was printed next and was approved. PMS stands for Pantone Matching System (PMS). PMS is a simpler system for printers to use. PMS colors can streamline the process of printing and cut down on cost. There can be so much variation in color using CMYK that Pantone is sometimes used to help create consistent color. This way a printer can consistently print from job to job. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These are the primary colors used in printing. Varying the quantities of these colors creates an endless array of colors to print. The “first of the first” PMS proofs were printed before the CMYK proofs. Four colors (plates) were used for both the PMS and CMYK proofs. The PMS process produced a result that was unacceptable to those in charge (probably George Lucas) so Gore changed to a standard CMYK process for the subsequent print run which was finally deemed acceptable. All other print runs used this CMYK process (as far as we know). When comparing the CMYK and PMS proofs side by side, the easiest way to tell the difference is by looking at the color bars. The PMS proofs have orange included in the color bar, CMYK has yellow. CMYK – Which is rarer? Which is worth more? No one can say for certain how many 77/21-0 proofs are out there and how many of each version still exist. Judging from past recorded sales, there are probably less CMYK proofs than PMS proofs. However, since the PMS proofs were printed first they are generally more sought after by collectors. They usually sell for about the same price. Rolled – Never Folded. This poster is NOT FRAMED. These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. No tears, no tape, no pin holes. Live And Let Die? Rolled Never-folded? 1-of-a-kind Nss Printer's Proof Poster

REAL 1973 NSS TEST PROOF! Offered here is simply one of THE rarest authentic original James Bond 1-sheets (27×41 inches) to ever come out of the National Screen Service for ANY of the James Bond films – Sean Connery or Roger Moore! That’s an extraordinary statement, but it’s true! This poster has only survived because it was personally saved by an NSS print shop worker who loved the whole Bond bravado, not to mention the films. In other words, he was a “shaken not stirred” kind of a guy. He saved this proof along with another alternate style printer’s proof. He said the alternate style proof really caught his eye because it reminded him of what Andy Warhol was doing at the time, and so he pulled it off the press to take home. That when he saved this finalized version as well. He rolled both proofs away and neither have seen the light of day until recently. This is a ROLLED NEVER-FOLDED original 1973 printing! Try and find ANY 1973 NSS 1-sheet rolled. Bond posters are practically nonexistent on the collector’s market today. If you’ve been following prices realized on vintage movie posters, you’ll agree; the exotically rare James Bond posters have gone out-of-site in recent years! Rarities like the uncut “Thunderball” Advance Quad, or, the “From Russia with Love” British Double Crown are among that elite group of valuable Bond posters I’m talking about. As great and as rare as those posters are, they’re NOT as rare as finding this 1-sheet rolled and never-folded. Full color version appears to be the same as the final folded released posters. I don’t have a folded one here to compare it to, but it looks to be finalized short of a few printing defects. It’s in remarkable. VERY FINE+ to NearMINT ROLLED NEVER-FOLDED UNRESTORED CONDITION. As I’m sure you know, NSS (National Screen Service) issued all the 1-sheets folded in 1973, and so to get any NSS issue rolled from that year is nearly impossible! To be in this great shape. It’s a real beauty! I will be raising the price if it fais to sell quickly. It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock – Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won’t inspire anyone! The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. This poster is definitely. Please write with any questions. If you’re in the market for top quality original vintage movie posters or Star Wars, then please. We can yield for you MUCH MORE than you would get if you auctioned them yourself up to TEN TIMES or more! Let us sell your posters for you! For more information about CineMasterpieces please see. We guarantee that all posters we sell are graded and described accurately. Unless otherwise specified in the description, ALL POSTERS ARE ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTERS original theatrical movie posters that were displayed or meant for display (unused) in theaters at the time the movies were released. #1 RAREST 007 BOND POSTER! ONLY KNOWN ORIGINAL WORLDWIDE! Here is simply THE rarest authentic original James Bond 1-sheet to come out of the National Screen Service for ANY of the James Bond films – Sean Connery or Roger Moore! That’s an extraordinary statement, but it’s true! This poster has only survived because an NSS printshop worker who loved the whole Bond bravado, not to mention the films, personally saved it. In other words, he was a “shaken not stirred” kind of a guy. He said that he’d saved this proof because it reminded him of what Andy Warhol was doing at the time, and so he pulled it off the press to take home for himself. Actually, he saved the finalized version as well. He rolled both of them away and neither have seen the light of day until recently. And no question, the NSS guy was right; the poster design does have a 1970′s Pop Art Andy Warhol feel. Accidental in design or not, it’s a rockin lithograph! I love that the ONLY text or writing on the poster is 007. The dangling dagger handle is a doozy of a detail as well! The poster is simply memorizing in person, and, a truly authentic &. 1-of-a-kind NSS Bond 1-sheet that NO other collector has! It’s also a ROLLED NEVER-FOLDED original 1973 printing to boot! Try and find ANY 1973 NSS 1-sheet rolled. There was only this one “Warhol” style 1-sheet saved, and so this is a true 1-of-a-kind. 1-of-a-kind Bond posters are practically nonexistent on the collector’s market today. As great and as rare as those posters are, they cannot boast of being “unique” like this 1-sheet can. After all, the double crown and the quad are not only examples. This “Warhol” style 1-sheet is. Additionally, it’s important to note that this poster is a proper NSS 1-sheet, measuring the full 27×41 inches. This poster is in remarkable. This is an anomaly to be in this great shape. It’s a real beauty! MUST HAVE STAR WARS! FOR THE ELITE STAR WARS POSTER COLLECTOR! Here A BONA FIDE ORIGINAL 1978 Star Wars Style “D” one sheet Color-Bar Printer’s Test Proof: This style “D” Star Wars one-sheet is one of the most famous movie posters ever designed. Star Wars originally opened in May of 1977 on just 32 theater screens worldwide. It played continually for more than a year straight to record-breaking crowds in extremely limited release. After that extended “roadshow play, ” Fox decided to go wide with Star Wars in the summer of 1978, expanding the number of theaters by the hundreds. The ongoing poster campaign was renewed by issuing this amazing style “D” artwork. There was finally time to execute the poster George Lucas had originally envisioned but couldn’t deliver by the films rushed 1977 opening. Two artists, Charles White III and Drew Struzan, were commissioned. This style D artwork was the result. THIS RARE PRINTER’S TEST PROOF WAS THE FIRST OF THEM EVER PRINTED! IT’S MINT/NearMINT ROLLED NEVER FOLDED CONDITION! This is a genuine original! Rolled original Style “D” one-sheets are pretty tough to get on their own, but a test proof is unheard of. Unlike the common style “C” test proofs which you see all over the internet, this poster is actually RARE! Also, this poster is NearMINT ROLLED NEVER-FOLDED ARCHIVAL MUSEUM LINEN-MOUNTED CONDITION! You won’t be able to find a better one. That is – if – you could even find one at all. This poster is in such great shape that I had it museum Linen-mounted by the best conservator in the USA to de-acidify it and to conserve, or preserve, the poster so it will stay this way. NO QUESTION, this is the last stop for the style “D, ” as it gets no better than this! Check out the High-Res scans. ALSO – Notice the yellow printer’s cut line on photo #4. This is a telltale sign that this was an “intended” proof vs. An “intended” proof is where they specifically were making a proof to determine press reediness or to get final approval from the client. An unintended proof is where something goes wrong during the run and the press is stopped and then uncut posters become a side result. This was actually made to be a proof. I got it from the pressman directly! This poster is UNCUT and measures 28 and 3/4 by 41 inches. A regular issued cut style “D” one-sheet is 27×41 inches. WITH the extra protective linen margin this piece in its totality measures 30 and 1/2 by 42 and 1/2 inches. Is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country. A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer linen-mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier – without the risk of damaging the original. The white you see in the photo beyond that of the poster is the white of the Japanese paper lining the linen border margin. You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle – it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original. Also, all of my linen-backed posters have been stored FLAT so they DO NOT have a curl to them – They’re ready for framing and display! Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Anthony Daniels…. It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock – Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won’t inspire anyone!
