Original STAR WARS B Advance Teaser 1 sheet LINENBACKED Union Strike Version

Original STAR WARS B Advance Teaser 1 sheet LINENBACKED Union Strike Version

Original STAR WARS B Advance Teaser 1 sheet, 27×41 movie theater poster. 2 tiny touch up spots, otherwise very near mint before linenbacked, Absolutely beautiful poster! THIS WAS THE POSTER PRODUCED AND DISPLAYED PRIOR TO THE RELEASE OF STAR WARS. I HAVE TAKEN THEM FROM SEVERAL THEATERS AROUND THE WORLD. AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, FIJI, GUAM ETC. I RECEIVED SEVERAL FROM LUCAS FILM EMPLOYEES. I RECEIVED THEM FROM PEOPLE WHO CLAIMED TO HAVE GOT THEM FROM THE FAN CLUB. HOWEVER, I DIDNT PERSONALLY GET THEM FROM THE FAN CLUB. SEVERAL HUNDRED COPIES CAME FROM THE 20TH CENTURY-FOX WAREHOUSE. MY STORE IN MARIN COUNTY WAS A MAGNET FOR POSTERS THAT WERE NOT CONSIDERED TO BE AS VALUABLE AS THEY ARE NOW. Star Wars Advance 1977 (Blue Style). There are 2 versions of this that were authorized and printed by National Screen Service. The GAU is the union logo that appears on most original theatrical posters found on the lower white border in the center. One version of this Star Wars Advance has the logo on it, the second does not. At the Cleveland location that I worked at there had been an altercation with the Union steward and some of the printers. There had been a short strike for a week causing some problems with the use of the logo on posters. Thus, it was omitted from the printing of this particular poster out of the Cleveland NSS location. Both of these versions of this poster are to be considered original! Leonard Powers FOR THIS INFORMATION. THE PROFESSOR WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE FROM 1965 TO 1988. HIS WEBSITE IS PROVIDING ACCURATE INFORMATION UNLIKE THE RIDICULOUS AND SCANDALOUS WEBSITES AND CHATROOMS. Theaters were given several items for display. 8×10 and 11×14 lobby cards, b/w photos, 14×36 “inserts”, 22×28 “1/2 sheet”, “1 sheet” posters originally 27×41 and currently 27×40, 30×40, 40×60, 41×81 etc. Free items from the studio had no cut and dry rule either. THERE MAY BE A FLASH GLARE IN THE PICTURE. ANY FLAW THAT IS IN THE ITEM IS TINY. I HAVE BEEN CONSULTANT TO TELEVISION, RADIO AND MAGAZINE REGARDING MOVIE MEMORABILIA. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RELEASE, ALL NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE (NSS)NUMBERS AND INFO IS ON THE POSTER, THIS POSTER WAS PRINTED FOR THE NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE UNDER CONTRACT BY THEIR PRINTER TO BE DISPLAYED AT THEATERS AS ADVERTISEMENT, THIS IS NOT A REPRINT, REISSUE, RESTRIKE OR REANYTHING. I HAVE COLLECTED THIS ITEM AND 1000′S OF OTHERS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FROM SEVERAL SOURCES SINCE 1980. THIS ITEM CAME FROM MY RETAIL STORES INVENTORY, I CLOSED MY LAST STORE IN MARIN COUNTY CA. AND EVEN LESS THAT HANDLED PRIMARILY CURRENT TITLES, (1970 & LATER). HOWEVER, OUR SALES WERE ISOLATED TO OUR STORES OR IF WE TRAVELED TO ANTIQUE SHOWS AND COLLECTORS EVENTS. COLLECTIONS WOULD COME IN FROM THE PUBLIC TO MY LOCATION BECAUSE THEY HAD NO WHERE ELSE TO SELL THEM. I BOUGHT POSTERS IN SMALL AND LARGE AMOUNTS, 1 TO 1000 COPYS AND MORE. FOR EXAMPLE, IN 1984, I LEFT ONE THEATER WITH 23 SUITCASES FULL OF 68 LBS OF POSTERS IN EACH ONE. 70LBS WAS THE WEIGHT LIMIT TO GET ON A PLANE. I PAID MORE FOR THE EXTRA LUGGAGE THAN I DID THE POSTERS. IN THE LATE 1970′S AND EARLY 1980′S POSTERS WERE STILL AVAILABLE TO BE BOUGHT DIRECT FROM NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE. AT THE TIME THERE WASN’T ENOUGH BUYERS TO SELL TO AND KEEP A CASH FLOW. COLLECTIONS CAME TO ME WHILE WORKING ANTIQUE SHOWS IN THE MALLS IN THE 1980′S. SEVERAL STUDIO AND PRINTER EMPLOYEES BROUGHT ME POSTERS WHILE I WORKED THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MALLS. ONE INTERESTING THING IS THAT THE VIDEO STORES IN THE EARLY 1980′S WERE GETTING ORIGINAL POSTERS WITH THEIR TAPE ORDERS. THOSE USUALLY HAD THE EXTRA FOLD. IN THE EARLY 1990′S MY STORE IN MARIN BROUGHT IN MORE POSTERS THAN I WILL EVER BE ABLE TO SELL. I HAVE BOUGHT OUT REGIONAL WAREHOUSES BOTH IN DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN LOCATIONS. I COULD TELL STORIES FOR DAYS LIKE THIS, HOWEVER, NOT EVERYBODY WANTS TO HEAR THEM :. I HAVE NOT TOLD MY HISTORY BEFORE BECAUSE IT SEEMED LIKE BRAGGING TO ME, HOWEVER, THERE ARE SO MANY RIDICULOUS RUMORS GOING UNCHECKED ON THE INTERNET, AS WELL AS INTENTIONAL FRAUD I HAVE LAID SOME OF MY CREDENTIALS OUT FOR CUSTOMERS TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE DEALING WITH. MUST HAVE STAR WARS. RARE – WITHDRAWN POSTER! STAR WARS REFERENCE COLLECTION POSTER GUIDE! A COMPLETE SET OF ALL THREE. ORIGINAL STAR WARS 1977 ADVANCE MINI-WINDOW MOVIE POSTERS! Sought after Star Wars originals (see photo #1 and 2). 20th Century-Fox and The Star Wars Corporation distributed all 3 of these little gems. The original 20th Century-Fox 1976 dated Star Wars press book instructs theater managers to wild post in and around campuses; on bulletin boards, in meeting halls, cafeterias, bookstores, music shops, everywhere students congregate. These scarce ADVANCE mini window posters were used for that exact purpose, as well as being displayed at the movie theater ticket counters, and, being sent in the early pre-release Press Kits! When Fox began to market Star Wars in early 1977, they could not decide on how to market the film. Mark Hamill did a QVC television program on Oct. 28, 1992 and was quoted to say, When [Star Wars] opened we didn’t have any posters–we just had photographs outside the building. ” He elaborates by saying that, “Fox wasn’t sure what campaign to go with–an adventure, a 2001 odyssey, etc. The 3 mini window posters offered here demonstrate nicely the early Star Wars campaign in progress. The wordy Teaser pictured in the middle speaks of “Imagination” but does not deliver. This “Odyssey” style poster was dropped from the campaign early on before the film’s release. It was ONLY made in this mini window and jumbo (84×91 inch) 7-sheet size. The final version of a teaser made for the Star Wars campaign, taken from the film’s lead-in, was only ready shortly before the May 25th release date in 1977. Have been used by the motion picture industry since the silent movie days. Not all films released had mini window posters. Mostly big films such as The Wizard of Oz, King Kong, Casablanca, all the way to 2001: A Space Odyssey used mini window posters. They’re among the rarest of all posters made, MUCH RARER than the one sheets! Most of these were tossed out. No Star Wars poster collection is complete without these! All 3 of these posters are in MINT/NearMINT UNUSED ORIGINAL UNRESTORED CONDITION!! The first one with the historic May 25th release date, the Avco Center Cinema and Plitt City Center Cinema, measures 7 1/2″ x 6 3/4″. The “Odyssey” version with the PG logo measures 9 1/2″ x 7 1/2, ” and the Final version with the Dolby logo measures 8×10 inches. These posters are printed on regular poster paper. They are often referred to as Heralds and/or flyers due to their small size. If you’re looking for an investment/museum quality items. FREE is a mint condition copy of the Star Wars collectors guide (see photos #5 and 6). It is the best source for information, prices and photos on the original posters.
